I had a conversation with a stranger, not atypical Santa Cruz behavior, about perception and truths. He claimed that he didn’t believe in anything and that he chose to live in truth by doing so. I feel that anyone who makes a statement (ending with a period) believes in something because each word carries a meaning, an assumption, and a experience that takes root to a belief. As I see it, a doctrine of not believing in anything, believe means to live in disbelief. The only kind of person that comes to mind, if I were to believe that someone could live in disbelief, is someone that is constantly confused and questions without coming to an answer. On another note, I feel that anyone who says that they live in truth/reality may be lying, misguided, or full of yourself. How can your reality be more real than anyone else’s? “I’m a realist.” No, you’re an asshole. How about a little compassion?
I’m not trying to discount the conversation I had with this man, Mike. Although I may not agree with him, he gave me things I could think about and explore. For that, I am thankful. I’ve just recently reaffirmed my decision to acknowledge my dream world and perceptions; these are some thoughts that come from it.

my pretentious musings of the moment:
- mistakes cost less when you have youth to spend
- if love transcends words, then living with a love for life is living where words cannot fully capture the splendor of your experiences.
